Andy Hessenthaler has agreed to take on the role of Director of Football at Gillingham Football Club.
Just over a week after losing his position as the club’s manager, Hessenthaler has agreed a deal that will see him move into the boardroom looking after scouting and recruitment.
Hessenthaler will also be instrumental in helping Chairman Paul Scally in recruiting his replacement as manager of the club.
The pair are expected to meet up over the next week to construct a short list from the applicants with around five or six expected to be interviewed for the position.
One name out of the equation to replace Hessenthaler is former Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O’Driscoll after it was confirmed that he would be taking over at Crawley Town.
The bookies favourite is former Gills coach Mark Robson at 7/4 with Steve Constantine at 7/2. You can get odds of 4/1 on Micky Adams with former Gills striker Robert Taylor an outside bet at 33/1.
